SOCIAL SCIENCE 14 DE ABRIL

HI GUYS!
Here you have a little bit of a class for you to understand the Renaissance.
Below I add the transcription.
Bye!

The Renaissance was an effloresence of arts (primarly visual but also to an extent literary) and ideas in Europe that coincided with the rediscovery of the greek and roman culture.

It's easy to see this in terms of visual art, for example: Renaissance tends to feature a focus on the human forms, somwhat idealized, as Roman and especially Greek art had. This means we are also having greek columns and triangular pediments and roman arches and domes…

I THINK ITS SAFE TO SAY THAT THIS IS COPYING GREEK AND ROMAN ART.

So the people who decided to rediscover “these arts” were called HUMANISTS, which is a bit confusing because it meant that they were concerned about, you know, humans, rather than the religous world…which can lead to the common but totally incorrect assumption that the renaissance writers, painters, sculptors, were secretly not religous…..but thats a Dan brown’s novel.
Truth is they were religous, and as evidence here’s the madonna….and againg…and again..and again…

The humanists studied the HUMANITIES: knowns as history, philosophy, literature.
And traditionally RENAISSANCE is associated with the 15 th and 16 th century, it happened all across Europe but I’m going to focus on Italy because I love pizza…haha no, but really, it’s where most of it happened. WHY? Money.

A society has to be super rich to support artist and their creation and it so happens that Italy was quite rich due to constant trading with the Ottomans.

It is also important for you to know that Renaissance is not a “single event” that one day magically happened. It lasted for years and only the rich a priviligde could benefit from it.
For example, Donatello and Raphael were born 97 years apart…..which reminds me to introduce to you to THE NINJA TURTLES:
-          Leonardo Da vinci
-          Donatello
-          Raphael
-          Michelangelo

In Spain we have the famous “El greco” (domenikos theotokopoulos) …. And many many more.

GREAT ART WORK FROM THE RENAISSANCE:
La Gioconda, El David, La última cena, La capilla Sixtina, Pieda del Vaticano, El hombre de Vitruvio..
It was a time of focusing on human expresions, human body, the beauty, nudity, adjustment in size, proportions, 3D on a 2D painting…..

SEE YA! :)
